I Hate To See Her Go
When Lisa Capozzoli announced her resignation, my reaction was mixed. Though confident God has called Lisa to Christ Church of Oak Brook (CCOB) as a place to use her pastoral gifts fully and though delighted for the opportunities that await her, I’m going to miss Lisa.
I hate to see her go. I know I’m not the only one.
Those of us who work on staff with Lisa know her as a joy. She walks into work every day with a huge smile and a bright “Good Morning!” Lisa is always up for fun—whether adding her laugh to a great story or her competitive spirit to game-playing.
Those who have been touched by Lisa’s ministries know her as sharp-minded and big-hearted. Lisa is great at her job not only because she works hard and knows her stuff, but because she truly cares about the people she ministers to. Lisa walks alongside people--and carries their burdens. Lisa has been Jesus to so many of us.
And anyone who’s attended Sunday morning worship over the past several years knows Lisa as a gifted speaker and bringer of good words. The way Lisa led special services, the ways she applied Scripture in her Greetings, and the way she led us in prayer have blessed us all.
We, as a church, will feel Lisa’s loss in many ways.
Of course as Christians, we know to look at loss differently. We trust that God is at work--not only in Lisa’s new position at CCOB--but also in the changes that lie ahead at ECRC. While change can be unnerving (especially at Christmastime and we’re already short-pastored!), change also presents opportunity--for so much. We look forward to seeing what God has in store.
Please keep Pastor Gregg, the search team, and church leaders in prayer as they navigate and discern these next steps. And keep Lisa in prayer as she steps into her new role!
