SENIOR LIVING OPTIONS SEMINAR | JAN 23 | 7:30 PM
What happens when you realize that your parents (or you!) need to discuss different living arrangements? What are the local options for Senior Housing? When is the best time to make that decision? What are the financial, social, and health implications? Join us for an Encore/PrimeTime-sponsored evening to explore these critical questions. We’ll learn about all of the senior living options available, including in-home care, rental availability, and long-term care. The presentation will include an extended time for asking your questions. So join us Thursday evening, January 23 at 7 pm in the Garden Room of Elmhurst CRC and come with your questions!

ALPHA MARRIAGE COURSE | FEB-MAR
Alpha Marriage Course
– A supportive course for couples in all stages of marriage, offering practical tools to strengthen your relationship.

MINISTRY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
Each month in 2025 we will host a ministry partner spotlight for one of our ministry partners. Please feel free to pick and choose what organizations you would like to participate with based on your interests and passions!

January, we feature Caring Network. We will support them in their annual baby bottle coin collection. Pick up a baby bottle from the lobby and fill it with spare change. Return the bottle to church by Feb 23. CaringNetwork’s mission: We are racing to equip life-minded churches and individuals to care for their neighbors, born and unborn, honestly and compassionately, two lives at a time.

In future months, we will feature Yorkfield Food Pantry, Nurmay Mission, Lampstand, York Community Resource Center, and more!

5TH WEDNESDAY COMMUNITY DINNER, CHILI COOK-OFF & BINGO | JAN 29
Come in from the cold and join us for a fun-filled evening of community and FUN! Here’s the schedule for the night:

  • 5:30 pm – Community Dinner begins
  • 6:30 pm – Bingo Night kicks off (open to all ages, come and go as you like!)

JOURNEYING THROUGH GRIEF | FEB 5 | 6 PM
Journeying through Grief: A Story of Grief and Hope. Anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one will be inspired and encouraged by this event, sponsored by GriefShare, featuring Vince and Janna Kuyvenhoven, who will be sharing their story of grief and hope. Little Lambs Preschool Ministry spring session begins on January 15 & 16.

SPRINGHILL CAMP REGISTRATION | JANUARY 31 @ 11 PM
Get ready for a great week at Elmhurst CRC with SpringHill Day Camp.
Day Camp is five full days of fun and faith for kids who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade. Day Camp includes small group Bible study, high-energy large group sessions, and awesome activities including the climbing wall, crafts, low ropes, slingshot, water activities, euro-bungee, flying squirrel, silly games, and much more! Jubilee Resale BINS will be available to collect your new or lightly-worn clothing donations for resale during open business hours at ECRC! Please be sure to look for the bins marked Jubilee at the entrances. The Jubilee store proceeds benefit York Outreach and Timothy Christian Schools. You can drop clothing articles off anytime at church at these new, convenient times!

NEW TO YOU RESALE | ECRC PARKING LOT

Donation pick-up the first Thursday of each month from 7:45 am-9:15 am in the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church parking lot. New to You Resale proceeds support the Bright Promise Fund which provides Chicagoland children with access to a quality Christ-center school.

STAFF NEWS JANUARY 2025

We are excited to welcome Luke Norris as our new Youth Ministries Coordinator, starting Wednesday, January 15. Luke and his wife, Alana, come to us from Liberty University. His first weekend will be spent on a Middle School retreat at Timber-lee! Details for the Spring semester youth group, including the calendar, will be shared soon.

In addition to welcoming Luke, we have a few other staffing updates:

  • Katie Snyder will be transitioning from her role as Nursery Coordinator to Outreach & Youth Administrative Assistant.
  • Valerie Todd will be stepping into the role of Nursery Coordinator, replacing Katie.
  • Nina Schroeder will serve as Interim Choir Director for the Spring Choir Season.

We’re excited about these changes and the continued growth of our ministries!

GEMS GIRLS CLUB SEWING HELP | JAN 22 | 6:30-8 PM
Our GEMS girls’ group is looking for volunteers to help them earn their sewing badge on January 22nd. This is a one-time volunteer opportunity to help guide the girls while sewing - knowledge of sewing machines is a plus. No planning is needed. If you are able to cut fabric ahead of time, that would be appreciated but not necessary. If you can assist, contact Kristin Reitsma, Children's Ministries Coordinator.

My Brother's Kitchen (MBK) is a collaborative ministry bringing suburban and urban people together to serve a meal to the community and eat together. We serve together on the 4th Saturday morning of the month. Sign up here!
