THIS WEEKEND IN WORSHIP:
Sunday Worship, June 28
New Series: We’ve Got ISSUES
Message: Identity Crisis: Theology of Gender & Sexuality in the Modern West
We continue our summer sermon series on We’ve Got Issues, tackling hard topics together from a biblical perspective. In a culture that often encourages us to define ourselves by our feelings, achievements, or desires, Scripture reminds us that our identity is rooted first in God’s actions and his words over us. God formed us—including our most important characteristics—and, in his love, forgives and rescues us when we go astray. Join us as we explore the hope found in belonging to Christ.
Key Verse:
“But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
Car Question:
When introducing yourself to someone for the first time, what are the top two or three things you usually say about yourself? Why do you choose those things?

Vacation Bible School Update & Thanks
Yee Haw! What a wonderful week at Vacation Bible School! From June 22–25, 75 children from our church, the community, and Outreach York joined us for a fun-filled week of learning about Jesus. More than 40 volunteers of all ages saddled up to serve, helping create a safe, welcoming, and joy-filled environment for every child. We are grateful for everyone who covered this ministry in prayer. God blessed us with meaningful opportunities to share His love, deepen faith, and build new friendships. Wacky Water Wednesday brought plenty of smiles, and Thursday’s animal visitors were a big hit with our young cowboys and cowgirls. Thank you to all who served, donated, and prayed. Your support helped make this week a memorable reminder of God’s faithfulness and love. We praise God for the seeds planted and trust Him to continue His work in the hearts of these children long after VBS has ended.

MEET THE INTERNS
We’re grateful to have three interns working in the Elmhurst CRC office for the summer 2026!
Meet Julie deBoo. Julie is our graphic design intern working closely with the Communications & Creative Team. Julie is pursuing majors in Graphic Design and Spanish, with a minor in English Literature, at Calvin University. She is a 2024 graduate of Timothy Christian Schools. Julie became interested in graphic design as a career after spending time during COVID watching HGTV with her dad and exploring creative career paths in the arts and design fields. She has helped conceptualize, develop, and redesign graphics for the several of Elmhurst CRC’s fall ministry launches, as well lots of signage for the Elmhurst Farmers Market!
Meet Bella Hackert. Bella is serving as our Children’s Ministry Intern this summer. She will be a senior at Timothy Christian Schools this fall and has deep roots in children’s ministry through her family, as her mother, Kara Hackert, serves as our Director of Children & Family Ministries. Bella has gained valuable experience by volunteering in various children’s ministry programs over the years, and this internship provides an opportunity for more focused, hands-on ministry experience. After high school, she hopes to pursue a degree in elementary education and eventually serve in a church setting, specifically in children’s ministry.
Meet Alyssa Korkowski. Alyssa is serving as a Junior Intern with Elmhurst Youth this summer. A recent graduate of York High School, she plans to attend College of DuPage this fall to pursue studies in Special Education. Working closely with Pastor Jeff Klein, Alyssa is supporting the Yee Haw Vacation Bible School, assisting with youth ministry activities, and helping plan upcoming summer events in July and August.
Many thanks to these fabulous interns and the fresh sparkle they’ve added to our projects and mission this summer!
