Often the hardest part of any journey is the first step. Certainly that’s true when it comes to walking into a new church! “What will it be like?” we ask, wondering if anyone will notice and say hello. Or worse: wondering if everyone will notice if they make us stand up!
At Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church we want everyone who walks through our doors—whether for a Sunday morning service, a Bible study, Little Lambs, a special event or a mid-week program—to feel welcome without being overwhelmed and to get connected without feeling pushed. This is why we offer many ways to plug in to our church. We do believe that the more connected we are to the life of the church and its mission, the more opportunities we have for growth and getting to know God and one another.
So we hope you’ll take the first steps of a journey toward becoming more like Jesus with us.
At Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, kids are encouraged to take their own faith journeys, right along with the rest of us. In fact, we devote our children's ministries to helping all children to know God (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), to know that he loves them, and to grow up in him.
Our church is full of people in ministry—people serving as well as people being served by others. It’s this service that makes a church a community. Our goal is to have every adult involved in ministry that utilizes their spiritual gifts and takes advantage of their availability and interest. This is why we offer a wide array of ministries to get involved in—either by serving, being served, or often, both.
There are many resources available at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church and in the local community to bring God?s comfort, help, and direction to those who need some support. God cares not only about our spiritual health, but also about our physical and emotional well-being.
We believe "worship" is the posture we assume in relation to God, our Creator and Savior. When we genuinely hear God's voice and experience the depth of his love through Jesus' sacrifice for us, we are naturally and inevitably grateful. This posture of gratitude is worship.
