Year-End Reflections

Year-End Reflections

December 31, 2025 by Gregg DeMey

Dear Friends,

God’s Spirit has been faithfully enlivening our congregation for more than 75 years! Through floods, fires, times of plenty and want – God has been so faithful to Elmhurst CRC. But, this last year has been unprecedented in terms of the outpouring of generosity as we, God’s people, have given our Hearts Ablaze pledges, tithes, and offerings to God through the church and ministries of Elmhurst CRC.

As of the writing of this message, we have already fully funded our ministry commitments for 2025 and been able to reduce what was a debt of $4 million just thirteen months ago to less than $1 million today! Amazing! Praise God for this!!

By God’s grace, we are accomplishing together what none of us could have ever accomplished on our own.

As a result of this outpouring of generosity, all additional gifts that come in before the end of the year will go even farther in eliminating our debt and hastening the day when 100% of our offerings can be directed towards frontline ministries. Lord willing, we will see that day arrive in 2026.

One final observation: We are about to turn a corner into a promising new season at Elmhurst CRC. Debt free, yet rich in inspiration. God has already provided more than enough resources for all the dreams and visions that his Spirit sends: More than enough spiritual gifts and talents, more than enough energy, and more than enough funding. God has allowed Elmhurst CRC to be a living reflection of his goodness and generosity for decades, and I trust that he’s not going to stop now! We are truly entering a generational moment of opportunity.

Peace and Happy New Year to you!

Pastor Gregg
