Caryn Rivadeneira has been a member of ECRC for most of her life and is thrilled to serve on both the Worship and Care Department staffs.
Although she’s a big fan of many of the things that happen in and around church, Caryn loves nothing more than when people gather together in the presence and grace of God—whether in Sunday morning worship, summer-time book club, or anything in between.
Caryn’s hope is that Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church can be a place where truly all are truly welcome and able to live fully into their gifts, and a place where everyone can feel the deep, deep love and mercy of Jesus—no matter what.
In addition to her role at church, Caryn is a writer. She’s the author of five books for grown-ups and six books for children, including Grit and Grace: Heroic Women of the Bible Sparkhouse Family, 2017), the Generous Kids series (Beaming Books, 2018), and the forthcoming Gritty and Graceful: 15 Inspiring Women of the Bible(Beaming Books, 2019).
Caryn is a graduate of Calvin College and spent most of her career as a magazine editor and freelance writer. Caryn lives in Elmhurst with her husband, three kids, one rescued pit bull, three guinea pigs, two parakeets, and lots of fish.
