Making sure Sunday morning visitors are welcomed

The Hospitality teams serve to create an atmosphere of welcome as we strive to greet all guests and members of Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church with "more than a smile" on Sunday mornings. Hospitality team members serve as ushers, greeters, Welcome Center hosts, Information Center hosts, hospitality hosts and team leaders. We want every person who enters the doors of our church to experience the love of Jesus. And this is a great way to meet people!

The Hospitality teams serve in a four-to-six-week rotation covering both Sunday morning services. Each team is led by a team leader who schedules all volunteers and assures that all areas are staffed each week. Positions include:

Main Door Greeter
Welcomes all members and guests as they enter the building through the main doors. He or she also circulates in the lobby following each service to extend hospitality that goes beyond the initial greeting and welcome.

Auditorium Door Greeter
Welcomes all members and guests as they enter the auditorium for worship. He or she is also available to open doors when children are dismissed and at the end of each service as people exit the auditorium. Helps with handouts as needed.

Auditorium Usher
Hands out bulletins and assists people to find a seat if necessary. He or she is available to help with the offering if needed. Also serves to limit distractions throughout the service. In addition, a head usher is responsible for an attendance count of each service.

Information Center Host
Serves in the Information Center before and after each service. He or she is available to give directions and answer questions of guests, as well as members, inquiring about anything relating to the function of the church.

Refreshment Host
Serves in the lobby following each service as coffee is served. Ensures that coffee and beverages are available and accessible and that the area promotes a sense of hospitality and fellowship.

Team Leader
Serves to schedule volunteers within each team to ensure that all areas are covered. He or she leads the team huddle 20 minutes prior to each service and maintains a sense of unity within each team.
