Each Christmas 800 inmates at Angola, Louisiana State Penitentiary receive a gift pack. These inmates have little hope of ever being released - the average sentence is 88 years. During this time many have become devout followers of Jesus. Every week they gather for worship at one of 38 worshiping groups in prison led by inmate pastors.
On a Sunday in December, a video link will join the Prison Church at Angola and the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church in worship. The two congregations will sing, pray, and hear the word of God together. At the end of the service each man at Angola will receive a gift pack. The pack includes 3 items most requested by the inmates - a packet of prepared meat, a pair of socks and writing paper with envelopes.
On Monday, November 20 at 10 a.m., PrimeTime volunteers are needed to pack the gifts in preparation for shipment to Angola. A lunch will be served to volunteers.
